6/20/08 UPDATE – Great news – City Council has committed $285,000 to the Nicolas Valley Rural Preservation Project for Fiscal Year (FY) 2008/2009! The City Council recently committed $250,000 to initiate the Leifer Road assessment district process. This funding will be used to prepare construction drawings with associated technical studies and surveys for the roadway improvements, as well as the preparation of the assessment district funding/engineering/fiscal analysis. In addition to this effort, the City Council has also committed $35,000 for the FY 2008/2009 for the General Plan/Zone Change process. These funds will be used for the preparation of special studies that will lead to an EIR for the proposed General Plan Land Use Amendment, Zone Change and Community Plan. This project is scheduled to commence in late summer 2008 and is anticipated to be an 18 to 24 month process. Any approved roadway improvements would begin construction after this timeframe.
