GIS (Geographic Information Systems)

What is GIS?

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer-based tool used to map and analyze features and occurrences.   GIS technology integrates common database operations such as query and statistical analysis with the unique visualization and geographic analysis benefits offered by maps.  These abilities distinguish GIS from other information systems and make it valuable to a wide range of public and private enterprises for explaining occurrences, predicting outcomes, and planning strategies.

The Property Information Module allows you to find information associated with a location (i.e. owner, address, size, etc.) utilizing a known address or assessors parcel number. You can also select a property to view the APN, owner, site address, mailing address, acreage, land value, structure value, tax year, zoning, and land use data. (You will not be able to search by property owner's name.) This module also provides a user the ability to find out a variety of information about property in the Temecula area, including maps showing the City 's streets, parcel boundaries, General Plan Land, Use designations and zoning classifications. In addition, a user can see maps identifying fault zones, the flood plain, high fire zones, environmentally sensitive areas and the location of parks, schools and public facilities. The Property Notification Module identifies properties within a specified radius of a user designated parcel or area.
