Community Action Patrol

 


The primary function of Community Action Patrol is to patrol the streets of Temecula acting as the "eyes and ears" of the Department, many special details are also handled by the volunteers. The City of Temecula recently purchased three (3) Brand New Ford Hybrid vehicles that have been identified as Community Action Patrol vehicles. These new economical “Green (Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle)” vehicles will allow for more volunteers to patrol the community and to transport more volunteers to the various activities where they are needed. The City of Temecula sponsors approximately fifteen Special Events each year. Citizens Action Patrol handles traffic control at these parades as well as at road races and other public events. Other assignments have included surveillance details, anti-graffiti suppression programs, Business checks, Vacation home checks, School route patrols, and crime scene security.

Requirements for membership in Community Action Patrol are: be at least 18 years old, possess a valid California driver's license, be physically capable of performing C.A.P. duties, attend a certificated CPR and First Aid course and complete a 40 hour training academy regimen conducted by volunteer Community Action Patrol staff members, and police officers. They must also be willing to contribute at least 12 hours of their time per month to the program and attend a minimum of eight monthly meetings per year.
