When you call 911 from a cell phone, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher will answer and route the call to the proper authority. To directly reach the City of Temecula Emergency dispatch, call 951-776-1078 instead of 911 (from your cell phone ONLY). Save this number in your cellphone.
If you call 911 from your home, business, or public phone, the law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction will respond to the call. In most cases, that will be the Temecula Police Department, which contracts with the Riverside Sheriff's Department.
Emergencies in Temecula are handled based upon the type of incident. As a general rule, if you are confronted by an emergency situation, start by calling 911.
The Emergency Response Program handles all fire, life, and environmental emergencies within five (5) minutes.
If a paramedic is requested, a fire truck will automatically be dispatched as well, since the Fire Department is responsible for extrication of an injured person, whether from a car or a residence. The paramedic's responsibility is to administer medical attention.
